diaspora*
The online social world where you are in control

diaspora* is a decentralized, open-source social network that runs on independently operated servers called pods distributed around the world. Users retain full ownership of their data and can control exactly who sees their content using a feature called Aspects. It supports cross-posting to other social networks and allows pseudonymous participation without surrendering personal information to a central corporation.
Users choose a pod (independently hosted server) to register on, then connect with the global diaspora* community while controlling their data and audience visibility through Aspects.
