Playdate is a small handheld gaming device made by Panic, featuring a black-and-white reflective screen and a unique analog crank controller. It comes bundled with 24 free games delivered weekly over 12 weeks (Season One), with additional games available via its Catalog store. A free SDK and browser-based game maker allow anyone to develop their own games for the platform.
Users purchase the $229 Playdate device, receive 24 curated indie games delivered weekly, and can also develop or sideload their own games using the free SDK or browser-based Pulp game maker.
