About

GoldenRetriever is a macOS desktop app that indexes local video, audio, PDF, and document files using multimodal AI, enabling users to search their entire media library by meaning in plain English. Unlike transcript-based tools, it processes visual content and audio natively to understand context, tone, and on-screen elements. Users get sourced answers with timestamps and one-click navigation to the original file, with all data staying on-device and AI traffic routed through the user's own API key.

Problem

Valuable knowledge locked inside video, audio, and document files is impossible to search or retrieve without manually scrubbing through hours of content.

For

Teams and individuals with large media libraries — including agencies, researchers, journalists, lawyers, and filmmakers

How it works

Users point the app at local folders; multimodal AI (via their own Gemini API key) indexes each file visually and aurally into a local vector database, then answers plain-English questions with timestamped source citations.
