/ About /

Istio is an open-source service mesh that extends Kubernetes to provide programmable, application-aware networking for cloud-native and traditional workloads. It delivers standard traffic management, telemetry, and security across complex deployments, supporting both sidecar and ambient (sidecarless) modes. Istio is a graduated project of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and is backed by a broad ecosystem of providers and consultants.

/ How it works /

Istio deploys proxy infrastructure (Envoy sidecars or zero-trust tunnels) alongside workloads to intercept and manage all network traffic, enforcing policies and collecting telemetry transparently.
